I’m proud to say that I was featured in 2 articles this month. One on Augmented reality for Brazillian magazine, Image, and a cover feature titled “Self-Marketing 3.0” for German mag, Page.

Huge thanks to Rafael Bucco and Verena Dauerer.

    Hi James,

Congratulations on the magazine articles and on speaking at MAX ’09 very enlightening. I noticed on the FLARToolkit userz group that you asked how BMB created the markerless AR site for Yorkshire Tea, this is something I’ve been trying to find out for about 3 days now, off and on, and I wondered if you had found out. I tried emailing them but no response, probably unsurprisingly.

Anyway thanks for sharing your great flash experiments, very inspiring.

Thanks Jake. Not sure how they did that. Maybe they used FlashSurf – http://blog.inspirit.ru/?p=343. It’s the only public Flash lib that might be capable of such an application. I’ve not used it though.

Ok, thanks for the speedy reply and pointing me in a new direction, much appreciated. Strange that there is so little info on the web about it though, cheers.

Keeping their cards close to their chest. Up to them I suppose. As long as they spill the beans at some stage.

If they have developed the library in-house, it’s a bit selfish to keep a library like that from flash users considering the impact it would have on the web and other media. They should release it under GPL and make a killing.

Try decompiling it. Although you didn’t hear that from me…..

I spoke to the developer who built the Yorkshire Tea AR site, Toby de Havilland and he told me that he tracked using the colours of the boxes, the hue and saturation, code he developed himself. Unfortunately this wont work in my instance as the colours are pretty muted.
